Costa Rica adheres to the Apostille Convention The consular-legalization requirement for foreign public documents in Costa Rica is now eliminated after the Asamblea

Legislativa granted Costa Rica's accession to the Apostille Convention.

Consequently, a new set of laws and regulations will simplify the legalization requirements for said documents; basically replacing all consularization processes for an apostille seal.

This internationally-recognized apostille seal must be stamped on all documents taken abroad, for its recognition by all of the 97 member countries of the Convention.
