Castro & Pal receives visit from First Secretary for Intellectual Property in US Embassy in Mexico
Last month, Castro & Pal Abogados had the pleasure to receive the visit of Mr. Michael Lewis, First Secretary for Intellectual Property at the Embassy of the United States of America in Mexico.
The visit of Mr. Lewis to Costa Rica had the purpose of establishing a continuing relationship with the Costa Rican government and intellectual property authorities and offices involving copyrights, patents and trademarks, in order to have a more comprehensive view of the intellectual property framework in Costa Rica.
Amid his objectives Mr. Lewis aimed to reach out to stakeholders, including both U.S. and Costa Rican companies, IP attorneys, government officials and NGOs to receive different perspectives on the IP environment in Costa Rica, and further determine the need of providing expert IP training, as well as capacity building. In this regard, Mr. Lewis was able to make key contacts for future IP education and trainings, namely prosecutors, judges and IP administrators.
His visit to our offices at Castro & Pal Abogados was a professionally rewarding experience, as he demonstrated his recognition of our Intellectual Property department and staff. We would like to offer our sincere appreciation to Mr. Lewis for his encouragement and congratulate him on his efforts on providing policy and legal guidance on intellectual property matters for our country.
